The Malaysian AIDS Council, or MAC is committed to creating an environment free from the negative impacts of HIV/AIDS for Malaysia and her people.
MAC was formed through and initiative by the Ministry of Health to bring together all HIV-related NGO's under one umbrella in order to maximize their efforts.
Among MAC's main objectives:
- To prevent the spread of HIV
- To ensure the highest possible quality of life for those infect and effected by HIV/AIDS.
- To promote and protect human rights because a lot of time there is a direct link between the HIV/AIDS and human rights work.
- To eliminate discrimination, stigmatization and prejudice associated with HIV/AIDS
MAC also provides direct assistance to People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs) via it's Outreach Program.
Special funds are channeled into direct Financial Assistance for HIV infected and affected people, which in this case would include young children.
